Nirmal Joshee obtained M. Sc. and Ph. D. in Botany (1987) from India.
He is currently serving as a Professor of Plant
Science/Biotechnology, Coordinator of Graduate Program in
Biotechnology, and Director of Center for Ultrastructural Research
(CURE). The major focus of research in the ‘Joshee lab’ is on plant
tissue culture, genetic transformation, trichome biology,
developmental and reproductive biology of Paulownia (a short
rotation fast growing tree) and Scutellaria (medicinal plants with anti-
tumor properties). Dr. Joshee is one of the founding members of
‘American Council for Medicinally Active Plants’ and serves as one of
the executive editors of the ‘Journal of Medicinally Active Plants’. He
has co-edited a book ‘Medicinal Plants: Farm to Pharmacy, Springer,
