Aleel K. Grennan is an Associate Professor of Biology at Worcester State University. She has an active research program in plant ecophysiology that incorporates many undergraduate researchers. Her work examines plant interactions with the environment from the community to molecular level. Her research interests are on the role of the chloroplast in plant growth and development, focusing on plant responses to changing light environments. Her work encompasses plant responses to light at multiple levels – from canopy and whole plant dynamics to the molecular/cellular level – including screening mutant populations of gene discovery. In the past, she was primarily worked in agricultural settings but her work at Worcester State University focuses more on natural ecosystems and model systems.
