Omar González is a geographic data analyst in the Reforestation
Unit of NGO Para La Naturaleza. His work consists mainly in the
collection, processing, and analysis of data from Natural Protected
Areas in Puerto Rico that are being managed with reforestation
and ecosystem restoration projects. This data includes aerial visual
imagery, aerial thermal imagery, weather conditions (temperature,
humidity, and heat index), and soil conditions (temperature, water
volume, and electrical conductivity). The aim of his work is to
evaluate changes in the ecosystems that may be influenced by the
restoration and reforestation projects. Omar received his B.A. in
Physical Geography from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio
Piedras. He has done work in forest management projects in New
Mexico (USA) aimed at forest fire mitigation. He is also a licensed
Remote Pilot by the Federal Aviation Administration and a proud
